punch out review Review: Punch Out!!

It’s been 15 years since the Punch-Out!! franchise first hit local arcades.  Not many people knew of Punch-Out!! until it was brought onto the NES 3 years later in 1987 with Mike Tyson as the cover athlete and the final opponent.  Then Super Punch-Out!! came out in 1994, giving the franchise slick 16-bit graphics, an updated roster of fighters, and a new look for Little Mac.

A new Punch-Out!! was released recently for a new generation of gamers on the Nintendo Wii.  Will the game live up to its predecessors?

It’s time once again for would-be medical professionals to save a life or two.  Atlus announced today they will be making a new game titled Trauma Team.

If you’ve played any of the Trauma Center games for the Wii or DS, then you’ll know what to expect from this title.  In the past titles, you simply played a surgeon.  Trauma Team will allow players to play across six different medical fields: general surgeon, diagnostician, EMT, orthopedic surgeon, endoscopic technician, and medical examiner.

Trauma Team will also include a completely new dynamic story with an anime art style.  Expect Trauma Center to release in Spring 2010.

Throughout the history of gaming, there have always been games that reshape the landscape. I would like to point them out with a weekly column touching upon these games and sharing their success to the new gaming community. We should always know where we came from, if we expect to have an idea of where we are going.

Everyone is into these 3rd person shooters these days, (I’m not) but wouldn’t it be curious to see how the genre started? What were the early games that began this (annoying) phenomena? Well I would like to introduce G. I. Joe Cobra Strike!

The E3 goodness keeps a-comin’ with the latest gameplay trailer for Lost Planet 2.  In the trailer, we see tons of action, explosions, and a death defying leap onto a train.  It seems this time around, Lost Planet won’t be an issolated experience as you are fighting your way with a squad to make your way through the game.

As of now, little is known of the game, but the team who worked on the original Lost Planet has learned a lot from customer feedback on what gamers like / disliked about the game and they’re promising vast improvements.

brink 600x337 E3 2009: Brink, New Title from Bethesda

During last night’s GTTV show on Spike TV, Bethesda Softworks’ new title was revealed.  If Bethesda Softworks sounds familiar to you, that’s because they’ve been behind some of the greatest games in recent history, the most recent being Fallout 3 & The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

The game is called Brink and the setting for the game seems to be some kind of sci-fi space setting.  It also seems Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory & Enemy Territory: Quake Wars developer Splash Damage is on board with the project.  Does that mean Brink will be a space RPG shooter similar to Mass Effect?  Only time will tell
