Han Solo Adventures

The image above nearly caused me to think I missed the biggest point-n-click adventure game.  But after some research, I realized this fan made iteration of Han Solo Adventures was not made by LucasArts but is currently being developed for free play by Stacy Davidson.

DJ AM

For those who aren’t hip, (myself included) DJ AM a popular Disc Jockey has passed away at the age of 36 in his NYC apartment. While current speculation is that DJ AM was found with prescription drugs and a crack pipe near his body, this may be a result of his “devastating” break up with recent girlfriend, Hayley Wood.

DJ AM will have featured mixes throughout the DJ Hero soundtrack including: “Poison” and “Last Night a DJ saved my life”. DJ AM will also be a playable character in DJ Hero.  DJ Hero is an upcoming Activision game set for release on October 27th.

1980’s Arcade Sleeper- Gladiator!

118124212034 1980s Arcade Sleeper Gladiator!

Nothing better than finding a $ 10 bill in your pocket, unless of course its a larger denomination. I found the next best thing, to make our readers aware of an excellent arcade game they probably missed back in their youth. Now you have a chance of reliving your youth by playing the game today, well at least through MAME! Or should we just sign a petition to have this released via VC?

I remember the corner pizzeria by our home in NJ, it was called Vito’s! Vito’s always had  rare games to play, not just your Pac Man’s and Galaga’s. Gladiator sticks out in my mind as the best arcade game at the time! The characters were larger than anything I’d have ever seen in games. The graphics were superb for 1986 standards. It was not a game that was too difficult, it was just right. One can get pretty far after practicing for a while.

Review: King of Fighters XII, Slow but Sprite-ful

August 26th, 2009 mrjuandrful No comments

KOF XII

At one time, King of Fighters was a fighting game for the Neo Geo that only “Rich Kids” played. Very few knew of a true Neo Geo owner so the rest of us relied on the good ol’ wood cabinet… King of Fighters at our local arcades. At one time, a pinnacle of fighter games, SNK Playmore has been developing the King of Fighters series since 1994. So how does King of Fighters XII’s next generation fighting game compare with others in the gaming market? We’ll break down KoF 12’s gameplay, online experience and comparisons.

After a tweak, artwork and character sprites shine. When I first popped in KOF XII, I immediately noticed clunky hand-drawn characters on my Hi-def LCD. My default settings kept the visuals at vomit inducing levels, until a quick tweak changed that. Under options be sure to make the necessary adjustments for “soft filter”. Night and day I tell ya. The larger than most 2-D fighting game characters took on a new personality and their fighting backgrounds looked beautiful. Although limited with only 6 places to fight, I found the scenery to be just good enough. The beautiful looking character sprites are worth mentioning again. Nice job, SNK!
