Rumor: Final Fantasy VII Remake To Be Announced in 2010? [Update]

December 29th, 2009 Daniel Perez 10 comments

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Given how many Final Fantasy remakes and spin-offs there have been across a number of consoles in the past 5 or so years, one game every Final Fantasy fan has been begging Square-Enix to consider has to be Final Fantasy VII.  It seems the prayers of Final Fantasy fans might be answered sometime next year.

Tetsuya Nomura, who happens to be one of the chief officers on all things Final Fantasy, was interviewed by Japanese magazine ‘Gamega’.  He was asked what Square-Enix had planned for the coming year.  The question, “Will 2010 be the year for the announcement of the game of his dreams?” was asked.  Tetsuya-san replied with the following:

I can just say, that indeed, whereas I’m still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Agito XIII and a little later on The 3rd Birthday (this year), we will announce other games this year and one is terribly awaited from everyone and often “REQUESTED” by fans and even by the press crew that I meet all over the world.

Given that quote, that’s far from actually admitting a Final Fantasy VII remake will be announced. On the other hand, I can’t think of any other Square-Enix game that has been requested by a huge percentage of their fan-base as much as Final Fantasy VII.

[Update: Looks like this rumor might have been too good to be true.  According to a retraction post on RPGLand, it seems their tipster might have fabricated the portion of the interview saying the upcoming game was an often requested game by fans and media.]

Video: Modern Warfare 2 Popular Myths Get Busted in Fan-Made Mythbusters

December 28th, 2009 Daniel Perez No comments

With most popular online multiplayer games, there are going to be some secrets that most people aren’t aware of.  For example: Did you know you could blow up a vehicle just by jumping on it?  Or possibly being able to use a riot shield to save yourself from a falling supply crate?

Defend The House put together two great videos showcasing some popular Modern Warfare 2 myths.  Who knows if these “myths” will ever be fixed with a patch one day, but for now, enjoy all of the things you could possibly do right now in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Check back after the break for Episode 2.

Naughty or Nice? Mom Calls 911 over son playing GTA!

lindsaylohan004rv8 Naughty or Nice? Mom Calls 911 over son playing GTA!

Yes, I know that is Lindsay Lohan in the picture and no she is not the one who made the call. A Boston mother recently called 911 on her 14-year old son after finding him playing Grand Theft Auto at 2:30 one morning, this is way after she had told him to go to bed. Question is: Is he really playing the first Grand Theft Auto? Come on mom stop being so cheap and get your son a new console. Anyway I would’ve just taken the console away from him and or the tv but that is just me, this is a little too extreme and a waste of a 911 call. Then we get Michael Jackson and Tiger Woods calls and they do not take them seriously enough. I mean come on really! Full story after the break

‘Mario’s Closet’ Art Captures Complexity of Mario’s Costumes

December 22nd, 2009 Daniel Perez 1 comment

Mario's Closet

When it comes to playing a Mario game, power-ups are usually something that most people take for granted. I mean, the various costumes that Mario comes across allow Mario to do some amazing things like shoot fire, fly through the air, or even breathe underwater.

Artist Glen Brogan put together this amazing piece of art showcasing all of Mario’s costumes he’s come across throughout all of his travels.  The attention to detail in this piece is also amazing as Glen even goes so far as to include the exact hats & shoes to go along with an outfit.

‘Mario’s Closet’ is currently up on Splitreason to possibly be made into a t-shirt, so if you want to own this piece on your chest, then make sure to vote for it.

SML promo 1reduce2 Erick Scarecrows Soopa Maria Lanna & Warhol Soon Up For Grabs!

It all begins tomorrow, Erick Scarecrow will put 3 Soopa Maria Warhol APs up for sale on his ebay page. If you are not as lucky and do not snatch one of those up, you luckily get a second chance on Dec.28th. On that blessed day, you get a chance to get your gritty hands on a Soopa Maria Lanna which is seen above, I would say an adorable version of Luigi. Both you will be able to purchase at his shop, which is a rarity because those Soopas are a dime a dozen and fly off the shelves like hotcakes. Perhaps there is still a chance a loved one can get me the Warhol AP version before Christmas, so it can be all pretty in pink with my other Scarecrow collectibles.  I will fight to the death to win either figure, I wish you all luck! Picture of Warhol AP after the break. P.S. Follow Erick on Twitter here.

Star Wars The Old Republic

Ever visited Tatooine? Me too! Through the glorious (before it was ruined) Star Wars Galaxies. There was so much scum and villainy on that planet, I knew I was there. Cantina? Only the best “entertainers” dancing would infiltrate those venues.

In the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic, set for late 2010, you’ll enjoy this latest MMO with a setting many KOTOR fans will enjoy. And we got the screens here to prove the Sarlac is as ugly looking even years before The Return of the Jedi.

Mega Man 10 Screens; Coming to WiiWare, XBL and PSN

Mega Man 10

It’s true, Mega Man 10 will not be exclusive to the Wii like some thought.  In fact, it will be coming to the big 3.  Nintendo’s WiiWare, Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE Arcade, and Sony’s PS3.  Keeping the same 2D graphics, Mega Man 10 screens do resemble previous Mega Man titles and their retro look.  But rest assure, these graphics were done purposely in keeping the tradition going with our side scrolling hero.

Rockin’ Guitar Hero Inspired Christmas Light Show!

December 14th, 2009 babylinda No comments

christmas light hero pic youtube 281439989 Rockin Guitar Hero Inspired Christmas Light Show! "According to the Daily What, Ric Turner, a former Disney 'imagineer' and special effects specialist, turned his yard into a game of Guitar Hero, built out of 21,268 lights and LEDs, that plays Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover." To program the show a video recording was made of a perfect round of Guitar Hero playing Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover. The timing of all the dots and the light show choreography follow that video. When you play, you watch only the Christmas lights, but the audio you hear is from the Wii, so your flubs are broadcast for all to hear (people in cars can tune 99.1 and crank it up as loud as they want.)"

Nice going Disney! The Princess and the Frog and now this! I was quite amazed when I saw the video, which you can all see after the break. Well, Mrjuandrful you know what to do right? Create a DJ Hero Christmas light show to compete! Come on there is still time.

Yumi Sugimoto Hot Model/Nurse in Kuchu Buranko (Trapeze) Anime

kb 03 Yumi Sugimoto Hot Model/Nurse in Kuchu Buranko (Trapeze) Anime

For those who need a “shot” of love, look no further than Yumi Sugimoto! Yumi is the hot Lolita nurse in Kuchu Buranko (Trapeze), the trippy anime revolving around a psychiatrist, his patients, and his unique ways of treating them. Those who have yet to see it, I highly recommend it, it is very artsy fartsy but also funny and educational. A lot of his patients have OCD but that is another story. Yumi is seen in 2d and 3d in the anime, her remedy to cure the doctor’s patients, is with a vitamin shot  in which she proceeds to give while distracting her patients with her northern regions.

Yumi’s career began in elementary school, when she was chosen in a Grand-Prix semi-audition for the girls manga magazine Ribbon. In July 2007 she received her first lead role in TV Tokyo’s late TV drama series Boys Esté and now she is seen in Kuchu Buranko. Born April 1, 1989 she certainly is maturing like a fine wine with age. After the jump check out a video featuring her role as nurse in Kuchu Buranko, as well as some more tantalizing shots!
