Naughty or Nice? Mom Calls 911 over son playing GTA!

Yes, I know that is Lindsay Lohan in the picture and no she is not the one who made the call. A Boston mother recently called 911 on her 14-year old son after finding him playing Grand Theft Auto at 2:30 one morning, this is way after she had told him to go to bed. Question is: Is he really playing the first Grand Theft Auto? Come on mom stop being so cheap and get your son a new console. Anyway I would’ve just taken the console away from him and or the tv but that is just me, this is a little too extreme and a waste of a 911 call. Then we get Michael Jackson and Tiger Woods calls and they do not take them seriously enough. I mean come on really! Full story after the break
“Mejia’s son – one of four children the 49-year-old is raising alone – was playing “Grand Theft Auto,” an exceedingly violent video in which the gamer assumes the role of ladder-climbing criminal.
An argument ensued as Mejia unplugged her son’s PlayStation. Then, this mad-as-hell mother dialed 911. Police responded and managed to talk the boy into shutting off the game and going to sleep.
Mejia said she approves of athletic-themed videos, but as for “Grand Theft Auto,” she said, “I would never buy that kind of video. No way. I called (police) because if you don’t respect your mother, what are you going to do in your life?”
“They (police) were just like, ‘Chill out. Go to bed,’ ” the boy told the Herald.
Ok, so now the police have to be parents to children? Don’t they have enough on their plate with racing to Dunkin’ Donuts and threatening kids with handguns after getting a snowballs thrown at them?

I don’t get what’s with all the grammar mistakes in the original article. Shouldn’t there be an “a” right before “ladder-climbing criminal”? Also, why are the games suddenly referred to as “videos” halfway through the article?
I definitely agree with you! To call 911 is way out of hand. I would have just ripped the ps3 out and take it away for 3 months and punish him! lol. What a waste of 911 call!
Yes, police have to be the parents because the parents can’t. Anything more than a stern voice and you’re brought up on charges of child abuse. Many kids don’t respect parents anymore because parents can’t really do any consequences. We can say “Stop that”, and if that doesn’t work, we can say “Stop that” again.
When I was young, I listened to my parents “warning” because if I didn’t, I *would* be punished, sometimes physically. This taught me the concept of cause and effect. We’ve lost that now.
