For those who need a “shot” of love, look no further than Yumi Sugimoto! Yumi is the hot Lolita nurse in Kuchu Buranko (Trapeze), the trippy anime revolving around a psychiatrist, his patients, and his unique ways of treating them. Those who have yet to see it, I highly recommend it, it is very artsy fartsy but also funny and educational. A lot of his patients have OCD but that is another story. Yumi is seen in 2d and 3d in the anime, her remedy to cure the doctor’s patients, is with a vitamin shot  in which she proceeds to give while distracting her patients with her northern regions.

Yumi’s career began in elementary school, when she was chosen in a Grand-Prix semi-audition for the girls manga magazine Ribbon. In July 2007 she received her first lead role in TV Tokyo’s late TV drama series Boys Esté and now she is seen in Kuchu Buranko. Before all you Zac Efron haters let out a sigh of relief it seems like the Death Note Remake is kinda, sorta still in the making but a while from now and not Zac’s “main” priority at the moment. The High School Musical star was recently interviewed on Collider.com on his rumored involvement with the Death Note American movie adaptation. His exact words are after the jump and I am sure it will actually make you a bit angrier and in discontent with Zac.

Efron said, “I love Death Note, and we were, kind of, working on it right now. You know, it’s not…it’s definitely not something that would be coming up soon. [Turns to Me and Orson Welles director Richard Linklater] What’s the classic answer, Rick? ‘It’s not on the front burner.’ No, no, it’s something that was … I feel like, regardless of whatever I say, it’s going to be [interpreted by the media to be] my next movie. No, it’s not. It was an idea. Who knows? I had a meeting on it.”

So there you have it Death Note fans, all we have still are rumors and nothing more as far as date and a full cast goes. Sit tight, hopefully we will have better news soon.

Remember back in grammar school and highschool , when we had Biology or Anatomy and  had to study the human body with a boring skeleton or a dummy with the organs inside of it? Quite boring if you ask me!  High school would have been quite more interesting if we had Hello Kitty’s dummys with heart and intestines popping out showing what our insides truly look out. What!! Are you saying our organs do not have smiley faces and bows! You lie my good sir, you lie.

This actually reminds me of the dolls from the Anime “Kampfer” about a boy that turns into a girl in order to fight other Kampfer clans. Ok it is a little odd but a good watch if you are into Yuri, kinda of sort of. Anyway, these cutie come in two colorways and are a Medicom Toy. Does not seem like a bad addition to my figure collection at all. I know all you Hello Kitty freaks will not wait to get your hands on these either.

These two beauties under one roof? Where do I sign up?

Comic book, gaming, anime, and figurine fans who actively partake in either the New York Comic Con or New York Anime Fest will be delighted to learn that the Jacob Javits Center is going to get a lot more interesting come 2010.  Reed Exhibitors, who are the organizers behind the New York Comic Con & New York Anime Fest, announced both shows will take place at the Jacob Javits Center on October 8-10.

The reason behind the “co-lation” between the two big New York cons was due in part with the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo taking place in April.  The New York Comic Con was held in February this past year, but now organizers state October will be the New York Comic Con’s permanent date.

Con goers can expect their ticket to get them into both the New York Comic Con & New York Anime Fest.  If you buy a NYCC ticket, you can certainly attend the NYAF and vice-versa, although both cons will maintain distinct guests and programming space, but share a common show floor.  So for those of you who have had a slight interest in one or the other industry, this is a great opportunity for you to explore a bit.

Both the New York Comic Con & New York Anime Fest have seen an amazing amount of growth the past couple of years.  How exactly the organizers of both cons will fit all of that goodness into the Jacob Javits Center is something I would love to see.

I have been a fan of Elfen Lied quite a while now, I would have to say it is in my top 5 of favorite watched anime. It’s opening song “Lilium” was also one I held close to my heart, and still do to this day. Why, I have even said I want the song played at my funeral. Emo of me no? It is a quite beautiful song and Mr. David Tidyman at St. Angela Merici Parish deems it so as well. He played it via an organ during a mass at that church on August 16, 2009, and one week earlier, he played it during communion. After the break I included Mr. David Tidyman’s version played on the organ with the original from Elfen Lied’s Opening Theme. They both brought a tear to my eye and I hope you will enjoy them to.

This right here is an amazing cover to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. It is sung by an amazing Japanese accapella group “Kuno Shinji”. The song is part of the Casshern Sins Project anime and can be found on the Hikari to Kage single by Kuno Shinji on the B-side. I thought I would share this interesting version of the song with all of you it is pretty kawaii and humorous. The singers do not know Engrish that well and they sometimes change up the words here and there but it is definitely worth a listen. Enjoy it after the break!

What do you expect? When there is an anime revolving around poop people you know there is going to be an uproar. Especially when one of their poop towns people resembles a stereotype of your culture. Koreans suggest that a character named “Kim Ben” (“Ben” is a pun on the Japanese character for excrement), who loves kimchee, has narrow eyes and is “easily angered,”.

First of all back up, who is watching this anime? I know there is a cartoon out there based on a Value meal “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”, but an anime based on excrement? That is trying a little to hard no? Ben the character stereotype in question is pictured on the top right of the above picture. I am sorry to the Korean community, I would not want to see a Cuban or Russian representation of me. Or would I? I think it would be quite funny.
