Our favorite doggie detective and his side kick rabbit are back! Telltale announced today that the Sam & Max series will be launched on Xbox Live Arcade on Wednesday 10/14.  Read more to see the official press release.

Press Release: Telltale today announced that Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space will launch on Xbox Live® Arcade this Wednesday. All five critically-acclaimed episodes of the award-winning series’ second season will be bundled together and sell for 1600 Microsoft Points – a great deal for five games at only 320 points each.

Like Sam & Max Save the World, the XBLA® version of Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space will include achievements, HD graphic support, localized subtitles for German, French, Italian and Spanish, and a custom control scheme adapted specifically for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Additionally, a second Sam & Max Xbox picture pack will release on Wednesday.

Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space pits the Freelance Police against the surreal and supernatural, with the duo facing off against a demon-possessed Santa Claus, gigantic robots, and an emo vampire amassing an army of rave-loving zombies. Mariachis will sing, dead goldfish will prophesize, and Hell just might freeze over, and when friends are caught in the crossfire, Sam & Max risk their very souls to set things right. With an overarching story told throughout five action-packed episodes, the second season of Sam & Max is brimming with mind-bending puzzles, exotic environments and the unhinged humor fans have come to expect from Telltale.

And that’s not all! The Xbox LIVE debut of the second season provides Telltale fans with a fountainhead of inspiration for the studio’s annual Halloween contest which has just kicked off, offering the potential to win a gaming console of their choice and more fabulous prizes! Telltale fans are encouraged to submit creations inspired by any of our games. Previous notable entries include a custom Max hand puppet and a dog costume of Sam made entirely out of used underwear. Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space is the follow up to Sam & Max Save the World, the first season of the series, which premiered on Xbox LIVE Arcade in June. More great Telltale episodes will join the Xbox LIVE Arcade line up in November with the release of additional Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures. Fright of the Bumblebees, the premiere episode of the series, is available now on Xbox LIVE Arcade.

During a visit to my local CVS in North Bergen, NJ, I noticed something quite interesting in one of the aisles.  It seems CVS is starting to sell video games at this particular location.  The game that was on sale was the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Guitar / Game Bundle for the Wii for a damn good price of $49.99, especially when you compare GameStop is selling the same bundle for $79.99.  Looks like Christmas is coming early for some lucky boys & girls!

Also hanging above the Guitar Hero III bundles were some Wii “accessories” which magically turn your Wii-mote into a tennis racket or a steering wheel.  So it looks like CVS not only has Wii games for sale, but also crappy accessories too.

Hopefully this isn’t just a one time thing as having a major retailer such as CVS sell video games can only help make video games become more popular to an untapped demographic.  We reached out to CVS to get some more info from them, particularly if this will be a nationwide thing or just select locations.  Stay tuned for more info as we receive it.

Synopsis:

Dead Space takes place in the 26th century. The USG Ishimura (“石村” literally “Stone Village”) “Planet Cracker” ship, during the process of mining the planet of Aegis VII, sends out a distress signal to the Concordance Extraction Corporation (CEC); the CEC dispatches the USG Kellion to investigate. As the Kellion attempts to dock with the Ishimura, a malfunction occurs and the Kellion is badly damaged, and the crew begins to seek a means of return. As the crew explores the apparently abandoned Ishimura, they are attacked by grotesque monsters, who kill off all but Clarke, Hammond, and Daniels. Hammond recognizes that many of the ship’s systems are failing, threatening the ship due to a nearby asteroid belt, and sends Clarke around the ship to fix the core systems to keep them alive.

Fans of Bethesda and 2K Games, rejoice!  Oblivion Elder Scrolls IV and Bioshock are coming bundled on one disc on July 7th for $39.99 for the Xbox 360 and $29.99 for PC.  Winner of over 80 Game of the Year awards combined between the two.  We can’t express how great this value is, and speaking directly for Oblivion, which happens to be my all time favorite RPG on a next-gen console, you won’t be disappointed.  Dragon Warrior is still the top!

Bioshock on the other hand is one of 2K Games top games on the Xbox 360 and PC.  With news of Bioshock 2 hitting soon, this will be a good time to get yourself up to date with this underwater Art Deco utopia gone mad.

Refugee’s post yesterday concerning Sony slashing prices on the PS3 still may come, but right now Amazon has a deal worth checking out. Their 80gb PlayStation 3’s are on sale from $400 to $349.
