Microsoft Releases New 360 Bundles

March 10th, 2010 Ian Cantello No comments

Gaming goodness by the ladle full!Microsoft has released two more bundles for the Xbox 360.  The first comes bundled with Forza 3 and Halo 3 ODST. Not a bad pair of games for someone who feels the seductive call of a 120 gigabyte hard drive or needs to replace a recently burnt out 360.  The other is the new Final Fantasy XIII SKU that just hit stores alongside Square-Enix’s behemoth RPG earlier this week.  The Forza 3/ODST pack represents the mid-range elite SKU and has a price-point of $299.99 USD.  The Final Fantasy XIII bundle resides closer to the Super-Elite package, coming with an extra controller and going for a pricier $399.99 USD.

Just a word to the wise from everyone here at PerezStart.com:  when buying a 360 ask for the list of different bundles they have in stock, unless of course you have an undying love for Kung-Fu Panda.

NEW King of Kong: Dr. Hank Chien Breaks Record, PerezStart Predicted It

March 9th, 2010 refugee 2 comments

We usually don’t flatter ourselves but in honor of the Donkey Kong hi-score record we will.  Back in August, our retro writer, Gonzalo, predicted that Dr. Hank Chien will surpass the 1 million mark and eventually set the new record for Donkey Kong.  Guess what, he did!

Hank Chien

Dr. Chien surpassed the 1,050,200 Donkey Kong mark set by Billy Mitchell, with an unbelievable score of 1,061,700 in 2 hours and 35 minutes according to Twin Galaxies officials, ending the game on the famed kill screen.

The Perezstart.com staff first met Hank early in 2009 at a Richie Knucklez competition in Flemington, NJ. We remember seeing Hank playing on the Donkey Kong arcade machine wearing his medical scrubs. We then saw Hank again at the Richie Knucklez’s Invitational, and noticed something special brewing after he broke the 900k mark. Hank is a cool and calm customer, he has nerves of steel and exudes brilliance with every move that he makes.

Hank began practicing Donkey Kong on the MAME version and then invested in his own Donkey Kong arcade machine. The game of Donkey Kong requires impeccable hand eye- coordination and precision. It is only natural that the steady hands of a Plastic Surgeon could attain this phenomenal feat.

Left 4 Dead 2’s “The Passing” Leaves No One Behind

February 20th, 2010 Ian Cantello No comments

Survivors stick together

If you like your zombies fast and survivors plucky then you’ll be happy to hear that Valve dropped some more details about “The Passing” at Microsoft’s X10 conference.  “The Passing” will provide players with two new weapons to constructively increase the average number of perforations per zombie, one in melee format, the other in ranged.  Reports from the show floor suggest that the ranged weapon is a sort of heavy machine gun, something bearing a close resemblance to a M60.  Further information regarding the appearances of the original game’s survivors also cropped up.  They will occupy an NPC role and will reportedly feature at the beginning and end of the campaign.  Looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for 8 player co-op zombie slaying action.

One final bit of good news on the zombie slaying front.  Valve has announced that the original Left 4 Dead will see some content love as well.  Roughly a month following the release of “The Passing” Left 4 Dead players will get a new campaign that covers events leading up to the Left 4 Dead 2 campaign.  No specific details were given, but it should go a long way towards quelling the remaining discontent over Left 4 Dead 2’s rapid development and release time.

Throw some gas in that chainsaw and start stockpiling ammo, more zombies are headed your way soon.

January 7th, 2010 mrjuandrful No comments

Artie Lange Suicide

We’re fans of the media network and Howard Stern is the largest On-Air personality in the business.  His sidekick and stand-up comedian from The Howard Stern Show, Artie Lange, was rushed to the hospital on Saturday morning after his mother found him on the floor with multiple stab wounds on his body.  Lange sustained 9 stab wounds with three being deep plunges.

His mother went to drop off some food at Lange’s Hoboken apartment when she found her son laying in a large pool of blood.  The surgeons who worked on funnyman Artie Lange were able to save him.

More as we get it…

*Starring in Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, Lange was also making his appearances in video games and movies with Beer League.*

Rumor: Final Fantasy VII Remake To Be Announced in 2010? [Update]

December 29th, 2009 Daniel Perez 10 comments

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Given how many Final Fantasy remakes and spin-offs there have been across a number of consoles in the past 5 or so years, one game every Final Fantasy fan has been begging Square-Enix to consider has to be Final Fantasy VII.  It seems the prayers of Final Fantasy fans might be answered sometime next year.

Tetsuya Nomura, who happens to be one of the chief officers on all things Final Fantasy, was interviewed by Japanese magazine ‘Gamega’.  He was asked what Square-Enix had planned for the coming year.  The question, “Will 2010 be the year for the announcement of the game of his dreams?” was asked.  Tetsuya-san replied with the following:

I can just say, that indeed, whereas I’m still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Agito XIII and a little later on The 3rd Birthday (this year), we will announce other games this year and one is terribly awaited from everyone and often “REQUESTED” by fans and even by the press crew that I meet all over the world.

Given that quote, that’s far from actually admitting a Final Fantasy VII remake will be announced. On the other hand, I can’t think of any other Square-Enix game that has been requested by a huge percentage of their fan-base as much as Final Fantasy VII.

[Update: Looks like this rumor might have been too good to be true.  According to a retraction post on RPGLand, it seems their tipster might have fabricated the portion of the interview saying the upcoming game was an often requested game by fans and media.]

Naughty or Nice? Mom Calls 911 over son playing GTA!

lindsaylohan004rv8 Naughty or Nice? Mom Calls 911 over son playing GTA!

Yes, I know that is Lindsay Lohan in the picture and no she is not the one who made the call. A Boston mother recently called 911 on her 14-year old son after finding him playing Grand Theft Auto at 2:30 one morning, this is way after she had told him to go to bed. Question is: Is he really playing the first Grand Theft Auto? Come on mom stop being so cheap and get your son a new console. Anyway I would’ve just taken the console away from him and or the tv but that is just me, this is a little too extreme and a waste of a 911 call. Then we get Michael Jackson and Tiger Woods calls and they do not take them seriously enough. I mean come on really! Full story after the break

Erick Scarecrow’s Soopa Maria Lanna & Warhol Soon Up For Grabs!

December 21st, 2009 babylinda 1 comment

SML promo 1reduce2 Erick Scarecrows Soopa Maria Lanna & Warhol Soon Up For Grabs!

It all begins tomorrow, Erick Scarecrow will put 3 Soopa Maria Warhol APs up for sale on his ebay page. If you are not as lucky and do not snatch one of those up, you luckily get a second chance on Dec.28th. On that blessed day, you get a chance to get your gritty hands on a Soopa Maria Lanna which is seen above, I would say an adorable version of Luigi. Both you will be able to purchase at his shop, which is a rarity because those Soopas are a dime a dozen and fly off the shelves like hotcakes. Perhaps there is still a chance a loved one can get me the Warhol AP version before Christmas, so it can be all pretty in pink with my other Scarecrow collectibles.  I will fight to the death to win either figure, I wish you all luck! Picture of Warhol AP after the break. P.S. Follow Erick on Twitter here.
