Winter Games by EPYX – VC release date in NA TBA?

I must say I have been watching more than my fair share of the Winter Olympics this year. Overall, It has been a very exciting event to watch. I can’t help and think back to my first exposure to the winter games.

The year was 1984, I was 10 years old and I was on the Atari 130 XE. I remember spending many hours on Summer Games, a summer Olympic video game. The diving event was definitely my favorite.

I was very excited to see that EPYX planned a follow up for the Winter Olympics, Winter Games! Released in 1986, Winter Games featured the following events:

Alpine skiing
Ski jumping
Biathlon
Bobsled
Figure skating
Speed skating
Luge
Freestyle skiing

Winter Games was released on Virtual Console n the UK last February, but surprisingly was not released in NA as of yet. I am hoping that with the success of the current Winter Olympics, we will have it released in NA.

I feel it should have been released at the same time as the Winter Olympics. I know that I would’ve downloaded it myself, sometimes its when you release a game not which game you release. We are waiting for an announcement.

Perfect Game on MLB2K10? 1 Million Dollars!

Ok, we at Perezstart.com have had some neat prizes and gifts to give away over the past year. We’ve given free games, access codes to new unreleased trailers, even Star Trek goodies. But sadly, we cannot compete with our friends over at 2K Sports.

Sit down before you read this…Ready?? They are giving away 1 million dollars to the first player that can pitch a perfect game on the new MLB 2k10 video game. Wow, what a way to get a gamers attention. That has to be the biggest video game prize ever!

This is unprecedented!!! I mean there have been 18 perfect games in MLB history and I am sure many have been thrown in various baseball video games over the years. However, now is when it counts.

Once you pitch a perfect game, the system will provide you with a specific code that must be given to redeem the prize. What about authentication? Ah!!! our very own friends at Twin Galaxies will have to certify the achievement! This is going to be as good as Steve Wiebe trying to beat the Donkey Kong record again, but with tons of money at stake!

The $1 million contest starts on March 2 and runs for 60 days.

So there you have it folks it is Wii or Die! I am truly shocked that the average age of gamers is between 18-49, and that the best selling game of all time is Wii Sports. Well, maybe not as surprised because even the old folks in Century Village in Florida are wii bowling to their hearts content, they must have finally been tired from all the love making. Oh yes, I did not forget that lil’ tid bit of news, though I wish I had. Also 2 out of 5 gamers are females, Yahoo! I thank Wii fit for that one, a lot of Cougars are loving getting fit in the comfort of their own home as they get ready before a night out on the prowl. Either way pretty informative, yet disturbing.

AvatarForums.com A Way to Cope With Pandora Not Being a Reality

Jesus Christ, there is a form group for people who want Pandora to be real. They keep watching it to relieve their depression, only to awake and realize that we are all still in a crappy recession. It all makes sense now to how “Avatar” made a billion. Why don’t you just play the game to relive it? Oh right, not so good. I am telling you though, all those Ava-hards saw it and wished they too could be blue kitties flying on birds in the sky. I watched the movie in 2d so that is why perhaps I was not as connected to “the world, but I did try to attach my hair to my guinea pig to connect with her but she she just started to biting on it. Oh well! More on the forum after the break.

Original Poster:I recently read on the Avatar TypePad Blog, that people are becoming depressed because of the movie. People are realizing that the dream can’t actually come true. I was trying to start a thread where people gave ideas on how to cope with it, as in reading Avatar stuff, Writing ( about avatar of course), painting, or whatever.

Person Coping:
After I watched Avatar at the first time, I trully felt depressed as I “wake” up in this world again.
So after few days, I went to cinema and watched it again for the second time to relieve the depression and hopeless feeling.
Now I listen to the soundtrack and share my views in this forum. It really helps.

Person Offering Advice:
Start living like Neytiri: in touch with nature, the environment, and not being greedy and wasteful. Pass on the burger, for something more healthy for you and less cruel to animals. Spend your time on this forum, or volunteering in your free time, instead of getting high or drinking, twiddling your thumbs, being apathetic and complaining about how bad the world is. Don’t get swept away by the wave of negativity, live your dream. Your life has only two switches, to shine or not to shine. There is no “apathy” setting. If you’re on apathy setting you might as well sign your world away to destruction. When you get discouraged by everyone around you, be courageous like Jake, and jump on the leonopteryx. Be the change you want to see in your world. There are only so many people on this earth, the more of them that are doing positive things, the less of them that are out there doing negative things. It’s unfortunate that we live in a world where, just by pulling a trigger or making a corporate decision, one single greedy human being can wipe out the hard works of love of many people. But this is why we need to stop focusing on money and start focusing on our environment. Because we have the intelligence to kill ourselves, but not the wisdom to stop it. What will our money buy, when everything that is worth having is destroyed? The only way you can fill the emptiness you feel after this movie, is to jump on the leonopteryx.

So basically, I agree be a better person, be one with nature, recycle and run free blue and naked with a little loin cloth and you are good to go! I do see there being an Avatar exhibit or ride in the future, just you wait and see. It may be no E.T. ride, those critters were adorable I mean they memorized your name and everything!

Old School Must Have: Atari Flashback 2

A few years ago I was given an Atari Flashback unit for my birthday. It was a cute little device that resembled an Atari 7800. I enjoyed it, but how many of us actually had an Atari 7800 in the 80’s? By the time the 7800 was released, everyone had already moved on either to the Commodore 64 platform or Apple IIC or Atari Home Computers. The AF1 however was a hit in sales however, selling over 500,000 units.

Overall, Atari fans were not happy, the console was overly tiny, used poor 7800 styled sticks, and used an “NES-on-a-chip” for the actual hardware with the original 2600 games ported over. The games suffered, and were hard pressed to truly represent the original 2600 experience let alone the 7800.

Atari Flashback 1

I was thrilled to see that Atari released a follow up called the Atari Flashback 2 and it resembles the unit we all had or borrowed, the Atari 2600.Atari execs, convinced with the high sales of the AF1, went along a created a true old school masterpiece. The AF2, is a plug and play unit featuring a replica 2600 console as well and two exact replica joysticks. (If you own the original joysticks/paddles, you can use them as well!)

What gamers will be most interested in, its what featured under the hood. The unit uses an actual 2600 – on chip which allows for authentic execution of 2600 code. No emulation or porting this time, just real 2600 fun!

The AF2 includes 40 classic games that will satisfy even the oldest of old schoolers. Here is a full list:

The fun doesn’t stop here, Atari realized the need for fans to want to play their original 2600 carts since AF2 runs the same code. Adding a cart slot would’ve have been a logistical nightmare however. Therefore, the tech savy folks can open the unit and you’ll find it’s all set up for people to hack in their own cartridge ports!

It all begins tomorrow, Erick Scarecrow will put 3 Soopa Maria Warhol APs up for sale on his ebay page. If you are not as lucky and do not snatch one of those up, you luckily get a second chance on Dec.28th. On that blessed day, you get a chance to get your gritty hands on a Soopa Maria Lanna which is seen above, I would say an adorable version of Luigi. Both you will be able to purchase at his shop, which is a rarity because those Soopas are a dime a dozen and fly off the shelves like hotcakes. Perhaps there is still a chance a loved one can get me the Warhol AP version before Christmas, so it can be all pretty in pink with my other Scarecrow collectibles. "According to the Daily What, Ric Turner, a former Disney 'imagineer' and special effects specialist, turned his yard into a game of Guitar Hero, built out of 21,268 lights and LEDs, that plays Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover." To program the show a video recording was made of a perfect round of Guitar Hero playing Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover. The timing of all the dots and the light show choreography follow that video. When you play, you watch only the Christmas lights, but the audio you hear is from the Wii, so your flubs are broadcast for all to hear (people in cars can tune 99.1 and crank it up as loud as they want.)"

I have to say that one thing that I love about Obama and Joe is how much they are into tehcnology and advancments. A good show is this is Joe Biden’s son purchased Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Ok Mr. Biden or Mr. Obama are not the ones that purchased it themselves but I would kill to see Obama or Biden playing the infamous “No Russian” with him. Is that really one of Biden’s sons? Who knows and cares but it makes for good humor!
