Super Mario Bros. Wii

There’s a time in a Nintendo Fans life when you go back to the well to see if there’s water left. If you’re still reading my philosophical first line, you’ll know I’m talking about the once “epic” Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Emulation System (NES). Coming later this month will be the New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii and we got some screens to show it off.

Bo%20Jackson Top 10 Old School 80s Sports Video Games

Growing up in the 80’s, sports and video games would go together like apple pie. My brothers and I were fortunate enough to be pretty good athletes and played the games at home as well. This article will cover the best of the best from the decade. It will cover all systems as well as arcades.   Rankings depend on realism, fun factor, replay value, graphics and sound.

10. Summer Games – Epyx – 1984

Summer Games 2 Top 10 Old School 80s Sports Video Games
Summer Games, this was a classic. It had variety, excellent graphics for its day and was lots of fun to play. I particularly enjoyed the diving event, one would need to make the most moves in the air and try to straighten the diver up for minimal splash.  The judges always favored their home country diver, very realistic feature!

  • Pole vault
  • Platform diving
  • Sprinting
  • Gymnastics
  • Freestyle swimming
  • Skeet shooting
  • Rowing

Epyx continued with this genre and created Summer Games II, Winter Games, World Games and California Games. These were all great games  worth playing again any day of the week!

Guitar Hero III CVS

During a visit to my local CVS in North Bergen, NJ, I noticed something quite interesting in one of the aisles.  It seems CVS is starting to sell video games at this particular location.  The game that was on sale was the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Guitar / Game Bundle for the Wii for a damn good price of $49.99, especially when you compare GameStop is selling the same bundle for $79.99.  Looks like Christmas is coming early for some lucky boys & girls!

Dhani Harrison Appears On Conan To Discuss The Beatles: Rock Band

September 9th, 2009 Daniel Perez No comments

The Beatles Rock Band Conan O'Brien Dhani Harrison

Last night during The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, Dhani Harrison was invited to sit and discuss The Beatles: Rock Band with Conan.

During the interview, Dhani said he was the mastermind behind making The Beatles: Rock Band a reality when he accidentally met with MTV president Van Toffler right after MTV had bought Harmonix.  Through their discussion, Van suggested Dhani meet with Harmonix President Alex Rigopulos, which was only the first step to bring their one in a million shot dream into what is being released today, The Beatles: Rock Band.

Of course, since Conan is a talented guitar player, he couldn’t help but try the game out for himself.  The song selection was one I felt to be questionable.  So many popular Beatles songs in the game, and they went with Birthday?

The Beatles Rock Band Review

In Oct. 2008, Harmonix revealed a bomb-shell of an announcement.  One of the most influential, and most sought after bands of all time was going to be in Rock Band.  Not only will the music of The Beatles be made available to gamers around the world, but they were going to be the main focus of the game.

The Beatles: Rock Band is Harmonix’s first title dedicated to a single band.  Find out if Beatlemania is alive and well in our review.

Guitar Hero 5 Review
Last year’s Guitar Hero: World Tour was a huge success for the Guitar Hero franchise as it was turned into an obvious direction: playing in a band.  Even though the title specifically mentions the guitar, music-based games such as Guitar Hero have become more than just two people wailing on their axes.  It has now become a social experience that brings people together under one roof to rock the night away.  Guitar Hero 5 is the latest iteration of Activision’s popular music game franchise.  The question is: Is Guitar Hero 5 the latest and greatest?
