There’s good news and better news.  Tiger Woods announced that he will make his Golf debut in April.  He will compete in 2010’s Masters Tournament.  In other news, EA sports has now announced the release date for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 is June 8,2010. Now they have upped the ante with the Ryder Cup. Get ready USA, Europe is coming to take the title. See if you have the skill to make the Ryder Cup team and lead your team to the win. Rory Mcilroy will lead Europe to try and take back the title from the US. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the Cup will be played at the Celtic Manor. A course designed originally for the Ryder Cup.

Now the cover for the first time, will not just have Tiger on it. He will be partnered with Europe’s own Rory Mcilroy. A nice touch by EA sports, to have someone other than the star player. Rumor has it that there are a couple of perks. Hit the pin on the second shot of a par 4 and the ” Pole dancer mistress” trophy. Get a whole in one and you unlock the ” A ho in one” trophy.

All jokes aside Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 has stepped up their “A” game with better graphics, new Wii controls, and harder gameplay.  You can be sure this guy will be picking up a copy for the PS3.

There can only be one GOW. But which is it?  Gears of War or God of War?  Let Halloween be the fate.  Halloween masks have been around since Jason made the Hockey mask famous.  These two Halloween masks have PlayStation and Xbox gamers making a decision of who to dress up as this Halloween season.

Kratos in God of War shows power, intensity and a passion to kill.  There’s no question that compared to Markus, he is the stronger being.

With Markus Fenix, you know you get a fearless human being.  No gods watching over him so his kick-ass approach to get the job done wheteher it kills him, makes him a tough character.

So who is the better GOW Mask?  I’ll leave it up to you, but remember… you’ll have to go shirtless with one of these costumes.  So unless you’re in tip top shape, stick with your non-movie quality Chewbacca mask.  Everyone loves chewy!

God of War: Collection will hit shelves in November.  Excited?  By the Gods, YES!  Well we’ve got the first look trailer thanks to the US Sony Blog.  For the first time, God of War and God of War II will be available with anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second for an ultra smooth gameplay experience on the PS3. Also, for the first time for the God of War series, PlayStation Network Trophies will be enabled. What this means to you, is simple. Buy this Collection. These 2 games easily make up my Top 10 PS2 games of all time.

Super Heros are cool.  Villains are even cooler.  With 24 playable characters, Activision’s Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 combines the two sides for an all out smash’em up RPG action game.  Ultimate Alliance 1 was just a prototype set up to enhance Ultimate Alliance 2 with a rework of characters, attacks, and fused attacks between two super hero’s that allow for maximum damages.  This time a civil war splits up all the hero’s and villains in Ultimate Alliance.  Choose Rebel and you’re an outcast to the U.S. government “attempting” to clean up the streets in order to increase national security via the Superhuman Registration Act.  Or would you rather work for “the man” and with their help abolish those who oppose? Choice is yours!  Also, here’s another chance to play as Wolverine again!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 combines four superhero’s in the storylined theme and gives you the ability to attack at will.  Have a destroying fetish?  This game will please your crate bashing needs.  But I need to explain, the game is quite linear.  To clarify, you’re exploration skills are kept in check.  While you will find some hidden items by looking in hidden spaces, most feel like the item should have been there rather than “Look what I found”.  You view angles vary from level to level, but when you see a camera icon in the lower right corner the view is static.  When you can free-roam using the R3 stick, will give you a good perspective of the enemies and level around you.  But don’t get used to it, since most times your only view is from behind forcing your view to look only forward.

Decision-able cutscene’s. Vicarious Visions have developed a solid storyline from the opening scene.  Although I do wish the voices represented how I felt the characters should sound.  Many like Iron man and Spider man needed better voice casting.  Everyone knows Wolverine should always sound raspy.  Throughout the story mode, you’re prompted with choices.  Depending on how diplomatic or aggressive your answers are reflect what kind of superhero you’re destined to become.  I mentioned the gameplay is linear but the micro-details in replying to questions have choice.  These scenes display the games 720p graphics and bolster 5.1 surround audio.

Assemble your staff. Like a good manager you need to pick your cast.  Do you fill your roster with the Fantastic 4? All X-men? Or mix the good with the bad?  But know staffing one of your 4 roster positions come with benefits.  For example, if you select any one member from the X-men team, your squad will be enhanced with 15% stamina.  There are also “Boosts” to help your team.  Picking these “Boosts” along the way can equip your team with perks like; raise experience points earned by 15% and absorb 10% of melee damage as stamina.  You can have up to 3 active badges.  By far the coolest aspect of MUA 2 are the hero swaps.  If you ever get bored with a super hero, swapping them out (if available an unlocked) is easily managed.

Attacking the mob. For the first time, watch Storm and Captain America team up with the new in-game feature Fusion Attack.  L2 +  square, triangle, circle or X.  Each button represent a different character.  Fill your Fusion Meter to collect stars by inflicting damage with both melee and power attacks.  Get a star and you’re awarded with an opportunity to unleash some serious Marvel ass kicking.  Each character has 4 special attacks that can be used by pressing R2 + square, triangle, circle or X.  Watch your stamina because each use of a special attack will drain your regenerative stamina meter.  I like the inclusion of displaying how much damaged was caused when attacking by showing a number over your targets head after an attack.  For regular foe’s there will be a meter bar representing his health and bosses will be displayed in the lower left by form of a round meter.

Loading and Install time. With console hard drives increasing on every latest one announced I don’t mind installing some needed game data for better performance.  And Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 took advantage for what I believe in.  A lengthy install time plus a mandatory 2.5 gb went too far.  So you think there would be little load times?  Not excruciating to wait, but there were load times even with 2.5gb worth of data copied locally.  I would hate to see the performance without it.  Ouch!  But at least the Loading screens provided some hero information that carried me a long way in the game’s hero trivia portion.  Hmm, I didn’t know Peter Parker was Spider-man…

Co-op play friendly. Vicarious Visions thought out the co-play and made playing with others both un-invasive yet practical.  The addition of a quick menu allows players to upgrade their character while temporarily putting them under computer controlled A.I. and allowing your friends not to skip a beat.  While on-line has it’s issues of players swapping hero’s causes everyone to wait for the leader of the game to select.

Bottom Line. Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance 2 has picked up where they left off with MUA 1, but with improvements, a better roster and showing off Fusion Attacks. For fans of Marvel, it’s a must have. For fans of action/rpg games it’s a have game. And for people that are spoiled with go anywhere / do anything games (sandbox) you’ll see your range of movement limited. Overall, MUA2 boasts fun gameplay, split storyline (rebel or gov.) and 24 Playable Marvel Characters. With the possibility of DLC, the roster could expand well into the 35 player range.

In a leaked document discovered on French website Objectif-sega.com that PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility could be coming to the PSN.  In the past, we reported other reports of BC but this “leaked” document listing games is more evidence of it happening.  We already know God of War and God of War 2 will be bundled on thier own Blu-Ray disc instead of PSN.  But it seems like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and a Sonic Game will make it’s way to the PSN.

The NFL season kicks off with bang!  The Superbowl Champs, Pittsburgh Steelers have begun their season with a win over the Tennessee Titans but at a cost.  The legendary Madden Curse strikes again. And this time it’s Troy Polamalu who suffered a knee injury which kept him out for the remainder of the season opener. Oh Oh…

Polamalu was trying to recover a blocked field goal in the first half when Titans tight end Alge Crumpler fell awkwardly on Polamalu’s left knee. We will try to get an update on Polamalu’s status after the game.

Larry Fitzgerald is the other athlete on the Madden 10 cover, so as of now it’s only half a curse. Not sure if that means Fitzgerald’s fate is already written.

Come November, when it’s time to pick up your remastered God of War Collection disc on Blu-Ray you won’t have a hard time finding it on the shelves.  It seems like Sony want to make sure you know what you’re buying with the God of War logo plastered 4 times on a 4×6 cover art photo.  God of War Collection, God of War I, God of War II, and God of War I & II.  We get it!

They must have figured, God of War I and II have memorable covers so they didn’t want a new cover for an old remastered game.  Kratos on Blu-Ray visually sounds awesome doesn’t it?

Lego Indiana Jones 2 has rolled up crap too!

Last week’s gaming convention in Cologne, Germany was called GamesCom.  What did we get from the trip?  How about the runs and these 4 screenshots of Lego Indy 2.  As always, the game will be featured on nearly every platform including:  The Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, PSP, and PC. It will also feature levels from the latest Indiana Jones film.

The game is slated for a November 6th release date.

A recent video uploaded onto YouTube has raised concern on video games and those addicted to them.  YouTube user lukemorse1 recorded a video informing people that because of his addiction to gaming, his wife and son have left him.

According to lukemorse1’s YouTube channel profile, his collection seemed very complete ranging from older, classic consoles such as the Atari 2600, all the way up to the current generation.  He also uploaded gameplay footage of games running on their original systems, as well as life in Japan.

In his video, he claims the reason for his wife and son leaving him was due to the fact that he grossly neglected them while he spent his time with his hobby.  He also states the reason for him making his final video was to teach those of us who might be following his track to learn from his mistakes. Time management is key when it comes to video games. I personally would love to play video games all day and night, but I have other priorities that I know need to be taken care of before I can enjoy myself.

Make sure you put a lot more priority on people than you do things, because in the end… I mean.. what do you have?  A bunch of stuff that doesn’t really mean anything.”

With breaking news of Michael Vick joining the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2 year deal what does that mean for the EA’s Madden franchise. The first year of the deal is for $1.6 million with an option for the second year at $5.2 million. Our question for EA is when will we expect to see Michael Vick on the active roster for Madden 10?

Last year, the Madden cover was considered a bust with Brett Favre on the cover only to be picked up by the New York Jets. Their fix? Allowing people to download the new cover art for Madden ‘09 with Brett Favre wearing a NJ Jets Jersey.  When will we see a Vick “fix”?

So Michael Vick joining the Eagles already makes Madden ‘10 obsolete and outdated. Luckily with DLC, and updated rosters they will surely incorporate Michael Vick but when? As a fan and player of the Madden series, I want my roster up-to-date and unless they act quick, I don’t see this update coming out until after the season begins.

Another question for you. Who thinks Michael Vick, the lawbreaker, should be activated in EA’s Madden 10? If you recall, I had an issue when Alex Rodriguez admitted to taking steroids was not punished by us, the gamers. Let the debates begin.
