E3 2010: Microsoft Unveils New “Slim” Xbox 360; Available This Week

During Microsoft’s press briefing today, they announced a new slimmer version of the Xbox 360.  The new Xbox 360 sports built in 802.11n Wi-Fi, a 250 GB hard drive, a redesigned hardware that results in “whisper quiet” use, touch-sensitive buttons that will turn on/off & eject your disc with a swipe, a custom Kinect port, a total of 5 USB slots, a smaller power supply, and will sell for $299.  Another surprise from the Xbox 360 “slim” reveal is the new Xbox 360 is being shipped straight to retailers today, which means it will be available this weekend.

As you see in the photos, the new Xbox 360 has a sharper look to it than the current model of Xbox 360.  Plenty of ventilation slots hopefully means less red ringing and more time actually enjoying your games.  It also looks like the Xbox 360 ring has a chrome finish to it.

What do you think of the new Xbox 360 “slim” redesign?  Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments.
