A couple of weeks ago, we reported on when the Gears of War 3 beta would be hitting an Xbox 360 near you. Epic announced a vague April date, but they announced actual dates this past weekend of when you can expect to get a first-hands look at the Gears of War 3 multiplayer modes that you’ll probably be spending all of later part of the year playing. April 18th is when you can expect to finally get a taste of what is to come.
The April 18th date is when anyone with a copy of Bulletstorm can take a dip into the Gears of War 3 beta pool. If you don’t have a copy of Bulletstorm, then the only other way to access the beta right now is to pre-order Gears of War 3 at GameStop, to which you’ll receive a token to access the beta starting on April 25th. The beta pool will only be open from April 18th until May 15, which should give you plenty of practice for when Gears of War 3 is released on September 20th.
But wait – there’s more! Not only will players get to play the beta next month, but they’ll also be able to unlock a number of bonuses such as Cole Train’s Thrashball uniform, or a number of awesome weapons made more awesome by dipping them in gold or surrounding them in fire. All of these unlockables can also be carried over to the retail version of Gears of War 3. Trust me, you’ll be the envy of all of your “friends” on your Xbox Live friend’s list.
Here’s the full list of what’s unlock able and what hoops you’ll have to jump through in order to get them permanently unlocked in the retail copy of Gears of War 3:
