After losing his ex-wife to a drug dealer, Frank decides the best way to get her back is to rid the streets of crime. The only way to do that is to become the super hero the Crimson Bolt. Armed with very little know how, or ability to fight, Frank does what he can to “Shut Up Crime”.
Written and Directed by James Gunn (Tromeo&Juliette, Scooby Doo, Slither, Dawn of the Dead) this low budget feature about bland mannered man Frank becoming a super hero to win back his wife, is the stuff of fanboy dreams, a dark and twisted dream. James Gunn, an avid comic fan himself, came up with a project that stars like Kevin Bacon, Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, and Liv Tyler, who have starred in huge blockbuster films, felt that it was such a good script that it was worth working for minimum wage. Following the success of the movie “Kick-Ass”, you would think Hollywood would be jumping on board with a movie like “SUPER”. Its not the “how easy it is to be a superhero” movie, its more of the “how bad do things have to get before you decide to put on a pair of tights and go nuts”. While it could be called a another “Kick-Ass”, following Frank’s(Rainn Wilson) transition from loser to vigilante, along with his side kick Boltie(Ellen Page), is sure to set apart this movie and allow it to stand on its own merit. A lot darker in humor and violence, “SUPER” is sure to keep you entertained.
“SUPER” opens in limited engagements in April, so be sure to check local listings.
