Pitfall: Then… Now!

Pitfall sure has come a long way from the era that was. The sound of the Tarzan’s yell as you swung from a rope over quicksand, alligators and a “black hole” (ooohh scary) never sounded so good. Then along came the NEW Pitfall, and I’m hoping to hear the sweet sounds of a 21st century, Indiana Jones look-a-like without the whip on the Wii. That said the original Pitfall sold more than 4 million copies on Atari 2600, don’t believe me check it here.

Set in the Peruvian jungle, Pitfall: The Big Adventure combines the action of reptile dodging and vine swinging with clever puzzles. The game will feature over 60 levels spanning lush rainforests, creature-filled caves, and glacial mountains. Within these dynamic worlds, players will explore cavernous jungles, discover lost treasures, battle shamen, narrowly escape treacherous traps and outwit creatures using innovative, accessible game mechanics developed specifically to take advantage of the Wii motion sensing controls.

Now I don’t expect this game to do that well on the Wii with all the hot releases coming up. But the old school gamer might want to relive their “good ole days”. But then again, old school gamers hate the new technology gaming brings to the table… 3D.

  1. Ahhh I do not know. I really like the nostalgic pitfall oppose to this one. It is still one of my favorite games.

  2. I agree. The original Pitfall will never be defeated by a sequel.

  3. …with a leisure suit Larry character playing the role of pitfall it can’t be bad.
