A game just popped up on Steam called Plain Sight that combines a lot of things that I just plain like. The overall premise is that you jump around a 3D, multiplayer environment to steal the energy of other robots by killing them, either with a katana or a suicide supernova. Powerups and upgrades help you complete the task, but careful – the more power you get, the larger a target you become.
To keep gameplay interesting, there’s a variety of achievements, maps and game modes that include the standard team deathmatch and capture the flag, but also some unique stuff like a Botzilla mode where I gather multiple players fight against one gigantic robot with a dinosaur mask. So, just recap the awesome in bullet points:
If that’s not worth $9.99, I don’t know what is – however, if the notion of violent suicide automatons doesn’t strike you as immediately rad, read up on some Scud: The Disposable Assassin. As for Plain Sight, you can get a closer look at the features over at Beatnik Games’ site or buy it on Steam. WiiWare and PS3 versions aren’t going to be available until 2011. Boo.
