Did These 7 Games Change The World?

So it’ s Valentines Day and my hubby and I are cuddling on the couch browsing the world wide web on his and hers laptops. Yeah I know not as romantic as going out for an expensive dinner and movie, but hey, at least we’re together and the stuff crust pizza from Pizza Hut was delicious! But anyway, while browsing on my usual 4 websites: Perezstart, Perezhilton, MSN and Yahoo (a tad bias… i know, lol) I came across an interesting article on “7 Games That Changed The World” courtesy of yahoo.com.  While the list caught my eye I have to say I disagree with some of the selections. Thinking of where gaming started and where we are today…I don’t know… I’ll give you their list and let you decide.

1. Pong (1975)

Obviously I have to agree with this, I mean come on you pretty much can compare this to Ford’s 1908 Model T!

2. Pac-Man (1980)

Ok while I’ll agree  this should be on the list I personally liked Ms. Pac-Man way better.  Notice the Ms.  salutation, I guess we’ll really never know if she and Pac-Man got married.

3. Doom (1993)

Wow! Totally disagree. I know it was a great 3-d first person shooter game but to have changed the world of gaming? Then again I didn’t even watch Doom the movie…Sorry Dwayne stick to wrestling.  Oh yeah, and it’ll always be “The Rock”!

4.  Dance Dance Revolution (1998)

Agree, this in my opinion opened the doors to games like Guitar Hero,  Rock Band and even Wii Fit. You know all those games that 10 year olds make you look bad at.

5. World of Warcraft (2004)

I don’t know, I really can’t say I agree or disagree because I never played this game. A lot of you are probably saying came on how can I take this girl serious if she never even played the game. Well,  all I can say to that is I loved the South Park episode…

6.  Guitar Hero (2005)

Have to agree. However, I don’t need a new version of the game every other month.

7. Wii Sports (2006)

Torn on this one because while it got people off the couch, you know a month after the game came out the dust started to pile up on the good old Wii console.

There it is people, drop a comment and let me know what you think.

I would have to say doom did change things for me, it open the doors to scary fps that lead the way condemned, bioshock etc etc and I love those games!

Well I am a little bias because I hate FPS games. To be honest I hate them because I stink at them!

I have to disagree with doom and guitar hero. While I love guitar hero, it hasnt changed gaming on a big scale… or just not yet. In doom’s spot, Halo:Combat Evolved should have taken it. FPS games did not have much hype until it came out.
