According to Impress the gaming population in Japan has dropped a whopping 30.3% between 2007 and 2008! That is a drop about 6 million people! Also the percent of people who do not game at all is at an all time low of 45.4% while 45.2% claim that they have other items they would rather purchase. This truly saddens me because Japan being such a great economic power should be booming in video games, while us suffering rather much economically here in the U.S. it should be less so. With the recent suspension of FileFront and other gaming companies and businesses going down the tube, the world of gaming is starting to look a little grim!
Perhaps we and the Japanese have wrapped ourselves so much around working, household chores and 500 million other to do lists that we have forgotten to really enjoy ourselves. I say game, watch some anime, a movie or whatever your guilty pleasure is! I know we are getting to be an advanced society and I myself seem like I am always on the go and cannot get a little down time to enjoy myself, or pop a game in a system. All I am saying economic issues and crazy schedules aside, have fun, do what you love to do now, even if it is within your means in this economy and relax. What is life if all we do is work, run around and not enjoy it! I think the Japanese need more of that advice then anyone! Viva the Gaming industry!
