Activision just added a shiny new number 7 title to it’s Call of Duty franchise. The newest FPS will be called ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops‘. No longer will fans have to title it Call of Duty 7. Treyarch, the developers of Call of Duty: world at War will take the helm developing Black Ops which will be released on 11.09.10. November has always been “New Call of Duty game” month.
“We can’t wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. “We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts.”
We speculated that Call of Duty 7 will take place in either Vietnam or Cuba but we’ll get a glimpse tonight when the sneak peek is released on SpikeTV later tonight. Also, GameTrailers will be covering a whole lot on tonight show at 12:40 so let’s see if they spill the beans on any COD7 news.
Rumor has it that Call of Duty: Black Ops will take players behind enemy lines for the first time. Will it be a stealth game? Will it take place in “modern” times? Or will Treyarch stay old school and take us back to one of the World Wars? We’re excited and you should be too. Call of Duty: World at War bridged the gap for Modern Warfare and was very successful. We expect the same if not more from Treyarch this time around after the immense success of Modern Warfare 2.
What setting would you like to see of Call of Duty: Black Ops? We’ll all (hopefully) find out later tonight at 12:40. We’ll be sure to post the trailer here as soon as GameTrailers does.
