Things Are About to Get Crrrrrazy as Crazy Taxi Launches This November on XBLA & PSN

Hold on to your hats, folks. If you owned a SEGA Dreamcast, then you absolutely should remember Crazy Taxi. It looks like you’re about to get a refresher in all things Crazy Taxi as SEGA has just announced they’ll be releasing Crazy Taxi for both the Xbox LIVE Arcade and Playstation Network in late November.

Crazy Taxi for the Xbox LIVE Arcade and Playstation Network will be an HD remake that’s been completely re-mastered for the current generation of consoles. The game will support graphics up to 720p in a 16:9 aspect ratio (or a true wide-screen ratio). You’ll be able to play across two game types, Arcade Mode and Original Mode. The Arcade Mode will feature the classic look and feel of the arcade version of Crazy Taxi, while Original Mode allows players to drive across a more open game world, which was available on the SEGA Dreamcast. Not only that, but sixteen classic mini-games from Crazy Taxi 2 have also been included. If that wasn’t enough, the game will also include trophy awards and leaderboards. Finally, all of my online friends will know just how awesome I am when it comes to rushing patrons to their destinations!

I got to play Crazy Taxi on the Xbox 360 a couple of weeks ago at a press event SEGA was holding in New York City and I have to say they did an amazing job bringing the Crazy Taxi experience to this current generation of console. They kept the graphics just how I remembered them, but gave them a nice shiny HD look and the game looks amazing in wide-screen format. I also noticed the game played absolutely flawlessly in terms of its speed and controls, although it did take me a couple of minutes to get back into the groove of shifting between drive and reverse in order to drift.

Crazy Taxi will be available on November 24th on the Xbox LIVE Arcade for 800 Microsoft points, and November 23rd on the Playstation Network for $9.99. Let’s get CRRRRRAAAAAAZZZYYYY!
