I love that game! LOL I already knew about the scream, but I didn’t know anyone was making a list.

Thanks for the update guys, but like Coldbrand provided proof is in the pudding! If you can supply evidence, then it will make the list.

  10. Pyrrhuloxia says:

Any chance of a video game compilation vid?

  11. I’m scared now..I have to start listening for this. They probably don’t even release how much it’s used, but it’s likely to be in a lot of sound libraries.

  12. Kezins says:

compilation vid is a good idea. there really isn’t one that covers it completely at this point

  13. Kezins says:

@Anna, it’s real crazy. I had no idea how deep the scream went. For a long time, I thought it was originally from Star Wars and I hear it all the time on television and in random movies. Sometimes I’ll think my mind is just playing tricks on me lol..

  14. Pixelsword says:

    @ Juan Perez

I tried to put a link up, but your thread won’t do sequential postings, so I went to bed.

here’s the proof, @ about 24 seconds in

  15. Hox says:

Dark Forces also had the Wilhelm when you fell. Don’t forget games just because they are a bit older.

  16. Reagan Brice says:

I’m sure it’s in the original Command and Conquer as well.

  17. tesla says:

Here’s a video from the game with the scream on it:

    It’s on 3:02 approx

  18. Wilhelm Enthusiast says:

Hi, the Wilhelm is not used in GTA San Andreas, although there are similar sounding screams. The Wilhelm is definitely used in GTA4 though, in the ‘Final Interview’ mission when you have killed the lawyer there is a guard stood at the top of one of the flights of stairs on the way out of the building… if you shoot him he will ‘Wilhelm’ as he topples down. Hope this helps.

  19. Will Snizek says:

actually, the “Wilhelm scream is used in San Andreas. There are 5 or 6 variations of the scream and they are all considered the “Wilhelm” scream because they were different takes from the same actor and same movie.

  21. Cole says:

Bionic Commando: Rearmed can be added to the list. I heard it multiple times while playing the top-down portions (I think it happens sometimes after shooting a guy on a motorcycle. Doesn’t happen all the time, but it DOES happen)

  22. Cole says:

Sorry for the double-post, but I just remembered that it was also in the DS version of Civilization Revolution. I also own the 360 version, but I don’t remember it there.

  23. Will Snizek says:

@Cole. You are right about Bionic Commando: Rearmed. I was playing it earlier and thought I heard it, but wasn’t certain.

  24. Will Snizek says:

no worries about double posting. We definitely want to keep this list as accurate as possible 馃檪

  25. B么 says:

It can be heard in the video game “Asterix at the olympics games”

  26. Juan Perez says:

@B么, I’m trying to get confirmation on that.. if it’s true you’re name will be on our list…forever!

  27. name? says:

its also in some old star wars fps game for the pc from 96 or 95. youll hear it if you fall a long distance

  28. Ryan G says:

Can somebody put together a site of the ‘Homer Simpson Scream’? I’m sure that’s used a lot too!

  29. KruiserX says:

You have broaded my perspective and I mean that in the worst sense ever. I will never ever be able to watch a movie again without trying to listen for “The Wilhelm Scream”. On a good note thank you very much, this is the random facts I love to know, and I mean that in the best sense ever.

  30. Styyl says:

Is this actually real? Most of those sound unfamiliar to me, and since the sound is identical in just about all of them, that leads me to believe that they were manually inserted into each of the clips in the video.

  31. Juan Perez says:

@ Ryan G, can you supply an example
@KruiserX, your welcome now suffer like I do wishing you never knew about the Wilhelm Scream. Especially since some old looking cowboy is the man behind the voice.
@ Styyl, Yes, all of these sounds have been confirmed. We’d like to up the list, so any additional sounds (with evidence) will be added to our official list and your name engraved in our post, FOREVER! well, until we clean up our posts next year.

  32. B么 says:

Juan Perez > About “Asterix as the olympic games” A french developer said it on a forum (i’m french so excuse my english speaking). It’s sure. It happens when Asterix slaps the romans. Here’s the french quote :

“Je suis sound designer dans les jeux video, et vous pouvez retrouver le cri de Wilhelm sur les romains qui se ramassent des baffes dans le jeu Asterix aux Jeux Olympiques.”

  33. B么 says:

Edit : you can hear it at 2 min 54 on this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHpbz2r60Nw

  34. Will Snizek says:

you’re right it’s in there. I’ll add it to the list. I actually thought I heard it 2 times in the video actually.

  35. harry says:

    Never Really noticed it before

  36. […] Thanks to Kezins.com for the inspiration for this post. […]

  37. Regarding my earlier comment about the Wilhelm not being used in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (contrary to your list, and your subsequent comment), I have now verified that the Wilhelm is indeed NOT used in GTA San Andreas. Please see this post for more details:

I hope this helps keep your list accurate.

  38. Will Snizek says:

I’ll look into it. It was mentioned on this link that it was the PC version that was checked. Games are often developed by different groups of people for different platforms and that could explain why it isn’t in the PC version.

  39. The console and PC versions of the game were both developed by Rockstar North according the the credits in the game manuals.

  40. Will Snizek says:

still probably different people involved. We’ll look into it and remove it from the list if we find some sort of proof, but we’ve actually heard it in the game.

  41. I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. I don’t recall hearing it when I played the Playstation version to 100% when it was released, and it definitely isn’t there when trawling the files in the PC version. If you do find proof of it being in the console versions, please post it here as I would be very interested to see what you find.
