During Saturday night’s Video Games Award show on SPIKE TV, the trailer for a new Batman: Arkham Asylum game was debuted at the opening of the show.
The trailer shows The Joker might not have been captured after all. In fact, it looks like he might have taken over more than just an insane asylum out in the outskirts of Gotham City. Judging by the end tagline “Arkham Has Moved” as well as The Joker’s seat overlooking the city, my guess would be The Joker has taken over Gotham City.
I learned a long time ago from writing on the internet on various media outlets that not everyone out there is going to be as smart as you. I personally have my dumb moments from time to time, but the image above defies all logic.
[Update: It seems some detective work by Dtoid has brought up that this is in fact something Eidos did in order to prevent piracy of Batman: Arkham Asylum. Brilliant!]
Superhero video games are one of those things that can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, they allow gamers to assume the role of one of their childhood heroes. On the other hand, there haven’t been many good superhero games. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the most recent video game based on a superhero to receive good reviews. Now it’s Batman’s turn to be in the spotlight. Will Batman: Arkham Asylum continue this current trend of good superhero video games, or will it derail the train before it ever leaves the station?
The wait is almost finally over. In just a mere few weeks, Batman: Arkham Asylum is going to be released to retail. While we wait to play as the Dark Knight himself, a demo was released both on the Playstation Network and Xbox LIVE Marketplace, as well as a PC version.
The demo weighs in at around 1.5 GB and the demo is said to give a taste of the FreeFlow combat system as well as Batman’s stealth capabilities. A special trailer for the demo was released as well, which you can take a peek at after the break.
Batman: Arkham Asylum is set to release later this summer, and Eidos keeps the hype train going by releasing a new trailer for the game. There were videosreleased previously that focused on some of the villains that we’ll be fighting in Arkham Asylum, but this latest trailer puts all of them in a nice, neat, little package with their names and aliases stamped next to their ugly mugs (ok, except for Poison Ivy).
According to this trailer, it looks like the villain line-up will be The Joker, Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, and Bane with Harley Quinn thrown into the mix. With those characters announced, do you guys think anyone else will possibly make an appearance in Arkham Asylum? My money would be on The Riddler possibly making an appearance as he was one psychotic character, and with the dark atmosphere that’s present in Arkham Asylum, he’d be a perfect fit.
We reported last month Joker would be a playable character in Batman: Arkham Asylum. Thanks to the E3 gods, we have a gameplay trailer that shows The Joker in action.
In the trailer, you’ll see The Joker take out some guards with some traditional fist-a-cuffs, as well as some unique ways that involve toys from his personal collection. When all is said and done, we all could agree on one thing: The Joker is truly insane.
Batman: Arkham Asylum is looking pretty good right about now. We’ve been keepingtrack of the game’s progress and this latest video has really got me psyched about the game.
The focus of this video is on the Free Flow Combat in Batman: Arkham Asylum. The moves, of course, are pretty slick. Batman moves rather fluidly from one thug to the other. One thing that really seemed cool were the icons above your enemy’s head that shows he’s about to attack, which requires you to take immediate action against him, or else your combo meter is toast if he connects with this attack.
From the moment Batman: Arkham Asylum was announced, we were aware that a very familiar villain was going to be one of the main focuses in the game. The villain roster was turned up a couple of notches now that Harley Quinn & Bane are going to be keeping ole Batsy company during his visit to Arkham Asylum.
As you can see by the trailer above, Harley Quinn shed her iconic red/black Jester outfit for something a little bit more suitable for an asylum. I personally like her change of costume as it easily reflects the insanity that’s looming in this game’s setting.
Be sure to hit the break where you’ll see another trailer focused on the big man, Bane!
