Other than that, some Animal Crossing games for your DSi – pass, and a winter game with Penguins ontop of ice eating fish – yawn…

Today I received a very special package. The NEW Nintendo DSi. While my first impression on the device was “beautifully crafted” there will be a write-up review on the DSi coming shortly. Of course the DSi did not come fully charged, so after I entered in all my personal settings, dangling from the wall jack it is.

One of my best Christmases as a child was the year my big brother bought me Mario Paint for Super Nintendo. The year was 1992 and this concept was amazing, I got to do my two favorite things at the same time, color and play Nintendo. I spent countless hours playing this game, from composing my own music using Mario heads, Yoshi’s , Mushrooms and stars to spray painting my name is every color imaginable. My favorite in-game feature was definitely the fly swatting game, who ever played Mario Paint would remember this mini-game called Gnat Attack.
There have several sequels to Mario Paint since the 1992 release on SNES,
- 1993 remake BS Mario Paint – Yuu Shou Naizou Ban released in Japan
- 1999 series of games were released exclusively in Japan for the Nintendo 64DD titled Mario Artist
While no official sequel has ever been released in the United States Mario Paint made a Cameo appearance in Warioware Touched as “Wario Paint”.
Could an updated version for the Wii be in the works? I have heard rumblings of a Wii release but no official confirmation. Having Mario Paint on the DS would be another possibility, the touch screen is already there.

We’re anticipating the US version of the Nintendo DSi as it makes its way onto the gaming scene on April 5th. But what we wanted to clarify the specs that many weren’t aware of. For one, the volume bar is now controlled with two-button (high-low) instead of the slider from previous DS Lite versions. Lack of a GBA slot may upset you Game Boy Advance fans. But currently rumored, is the portable Virtual console, that will allow you the possibility to download those Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles. Not much of an equal trade since you’ll have to purchase the game.. again, but better than nothing.
We’re seeing another winner with the Nintendo DSi and it’s already a hit in Japan. Currently the DSi has sold over 2 million handhelds in Japan. You know the Japanese they make great stuff – (Shamwow Guy voice)
