Zenimax Media announced today that they acquired id Software. You may have already heard of Zenimax Media’s other very popular game publisher Bethesda Softworks, who created Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This merger will put some strong titles in Zenimax Media’s library with the addition of the DOOM, QUAKE, and Wolfenstein games, as well as id Software’s upcoming RAGE.
The day to day operations at id Software will continue under its original founder’s guide, John Carmack. Bethesda is set to release their new DLC entitled Point Lookout on June 23rd, and they were kind enough to whet our appetites with some new screens.
In Point Lookout, players will explore the swampy locale of Maryland’s Point Lookout State Park. During last night’s GTTV show on Spike TV, Bethesda Softworks’ new title was revealed. If Bethesda Softworks sounds familiar to you, that’s because they’ve been behind some of the greatest games in recent history, the most recent being Fallout 3 & The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.
The game is called Brink and the setting for the game seems to be some kind of sci-fi space setting. It also seems Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory & Enemy Territory: Quake Wars developer Splash Damage is on board with the project. Does that mean Brink will be a space RPG shooter similar to Mass Effect? Only time will tell

Fallout 3 DLC - The Pitt
For those who thought Fallout 3’s additional content would only be ported on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 are mistaken. Bethesda’s interest in making DLC for the PS3 have finally been approved. Many have speculated that the three current DLC’s for Fallout 3 — “Operation: Anchorage”, “The Pitt” and “Broken Steel” — were Microsoft exclusives thanks to a “deal” between the two. Well, those speculations end today as Bethesda announced the three (3) DLC’s will be heading to the PlayStation 3.
Coming to the PS3 in June, “Operation Anchorage” will be available for download first on the PSN. “The Pitt” and “Broken Steel” will be coming 4-6 weeks after. Release dates have not officially been announced.

“It is not a sequel to Fallout 3,” Hines said. “It’s simply another Fallout game in that universe.”
It will be the same sort of role-playing game experience seen in Fallout 3, said Peter Hines
