Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao defeats Miguel Cotto for the WBO Welterweight Crown. Funny, EA predicted this already with their simulation video below…. The simulation outcome saw Pacquiao get the decision over Cotto through 12 Rounds 118-109. The real fight on Saturday, November 14th was stopped in the 12th after two knockdowns to Cotto during the fight left his face a bloody mess. Another successful prediction made by EA, shows how accurate their data collection has been over the years.
Everyone loves leaked news. And with the announcement of Fight Night Round 4’s Official Roster release, I’d like to confirm and solidify those speculated lists with this official one. You can be sure that cover boys Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali are in it, but is the fighter you “thought” would be in FNR4 in it?
The Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya made his announcement today, that the 36 year old will retire from the sport of boxing. Many have speculated after the loss to Manny Pacquiao, De La Hoya has pondered retirement as an option. It’s only fitting now, since De La Hoya has retired, we could see him in the game.
What does this mean for Fight Night Round 4 Fans? Rumors have hit the web, that Oscar De La Hoya may make an appearance as a DLC for Fight Night Round 4. His impressive career record with 39-6 with 30 knockouts would make for a great Welterweight boxer. So the question stands, will we see Oscar De La Hoya in EA’s Fight Night Round 4?
EA’s Fight Night Round 4 Complete Roster is slowly being milked to the last drop. So, I figured since they’ll keep updating the roster when they’d like, I would make this post “The Official PerezStart FNR4 Roster Post”. I will be updating this post when an official roster announcement has been made. The game will be released on June 30th 2009.
While many “Rumored” Rosters have been hitting the web, I will only post the “Official Roster” named by EA here on this page. Without further ado.
[UPDATE] – More pics added below. You requested more of the “blue bikini” chick. And we deliver…
We’re very excited for Fight Night Round 4, and we’re loving Don King Boxing on the Wii. But with all this male testosterone going around, we thought we’d entertain you boxing fanatic’s with some of the hottest Ring Card Girls. We’ve scoured Boxing Arena’s everywhere to present to you these Babes in Boxing. We’re hoping that FNR4 will again feature Ring Card girls again, like they did in FNR3. But it’s only us hoping this will happen more than IF it’ll happen. Please listen to our cries EA!
The time is here, and the heavyweight boxers have been announced for EA’s upcoming Fight Night Round 4 and perezstart.com has the screenshots worth checking out below. Among the top Heavyweight fighters of all time, EA’s decision on selecting these guys is being well reserved, overall. While FNR4 strategically left off one boxer who they will announce at a later date, the Heavyweight Roster seems legit. Mike Tyson heads the class in this Roster of Hall of Fame boxers. Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Eddie Chambers, Lennox Lewis and James Toney finish off the list in MY ranking order of Best boxer in his prime! Mike Tyson’s final years were a disappointment but when he was on top, he was unstoppable. I just hope they leave off Riddick Bowe in this game… Tyson never should have changed trainers!!!
Making his first video game appearance on an EA sports video game, Mike Tyson will be one of the two fighters on the new cover of Fight Night Round 4. Muhammad Ali will join Tyson on this highly anticipated release. Mike Tyson had this to say:
“I’m honored to be on the cover of Fight Night Round 4 with Ali. He was a special champ, and I have the highest respect for him as a person and a fighter” said Tyson. “People always ask me if I think I would have beaten Ali if I had the chance to fight him when we were both in our prime. Now you can figure it out for yourselves. Fight Night puts you right in that ring and gives you the gloves to settle the score.”
PerezStart Fact – Capcom’s US Street Fighter Balrog, was based off Mike Tyson.
- US Balrog is M. Bison in Japan
- US Vega is Balrog in Japan
- US M. Bison is Vega in Japan
The African-American boxer was named M. Bison in Japan (with the “M” being an initial for “Mike”), since he was designed after boxer Mike Tyson. When Street Fighter II was released overseas, the names of the bosses were rotated, fearing that the character of “M. Bison” resembled Mike Tyson to the point of likeness infringement, but also because Capcom USA’s marketing team believed that “Vega” was a “weak-sounding name” for the game’s final opponent.
In this trailer you can see how the “impossible” of matching up boxers of old with today makes for great conversation. Check out this clip of Muhammad Ali vs. “Iron” Mike Tyson. The final seconds show the two legends about to exchange a knockout blow. Who do you think will stay standing?
Fight Night Round 4 is expected to be released on July 1, 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
