It’s been 15 years since the Punch-Out!! franchise first hit local arcades. Not many people knew of Punch-Out!! until it was brought onto the NES 3 years later in 1987 with Mike Tyson as the cover athlete and the final opponent. Then Super Punch-Out!! came out in 1994, giving the franchise slick 16-bit graphics, an updated roster of fighters, and a new look for Little Mac.
A new Punch-Out!! was released recently for a new generation of gamers on the Nintendo Wii. Will the game live up to its predecessors?
It’s coming Monday, May 18th — Punch-Out!! Wii. Who said you couldn’t wait till the 2nd to last day to pre-order something? Amazon has come to the rescue for you slackers who waited till the last moment to pre-order. (hmm, some of writers included)
The release of Punch-Out!! is nearly upon us. We’ve only got one more week to go and Nintendo has released the first commercial for the title to the masses.
In the video, we see Little Mac traning hard for next week’s release. It’s been 20 years since Little Mac’s defeat by King Hippo, which cost him the W.V.B.A. title. Little Mac has one thing on his mind: Getting back into shape to become the true W.V.B.A Champion of the world! With the help and wisdom of his trusty trainger, Doc Louis, Little Mac is looking to make a huge comeback.
With the release of Punch-Out!! for the Nintendo Wii merely weeks away, Nintendo has released a video giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how Punch-Out!! came to be.
The video speaks with developers both in Japan and in America. They talk about such things as the updated style and graphics, the over-the-top characters, and Doc’s relationship with Little Mac. This is definitely a video Punch-Out!! fans don’t want to miss. Read more…
In case you haven’t realized it by the graphics on the side of PerezStart, we’re a little excited about Punch-Out!! coming out for the Wii. It’s a franchise we have all loved and were wishing for an updated version to come out sooner than later.
In this latest trailer, Nintendo has finally decided to put a head-to-head versus mode in Punch-Out!!. It seems to have the same look & feel of the versus mode in Wii Boxing, and that necessarily isn’t a bad thing. I’m just hoping the controls are a lot tighter than Wii Boxing’s controls. You don’t know how many dentures I punched from my ole’ Grandmammy’s pie hole as a result of trying to get the game to register a punch I was throwing correctly.
Like Apollo Creed said at the end of Rocky. “Ding.. Ding” Look who’s made their appearance in this corner. The 1987 re-made classic arcade game, Punch-out!! We’ve spent countless hours playing the original and with good reason and here’s why I liked it:
two button controls
each character had a special way of beating them
when little mac would get beat up his face would show that in between rounds
music
We do know a couple things for the upcoming Wii Punch-out!! and we’ll be sure to keep you posted when we find out more.
