PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 fans will be glad to know that until November 1st, that can pick up Map Pack 1, 2 and 3 for $4.99 each! Or 400 Microsoft points for those who don’t understand the math behind them. Myself included.
With the release of the Dark Corners Map Pack on Xbox LIVE this week, players are not only treated to seven new multiplayer maps, but also a bonus deleted scene that was cut from the final version of Gears of War 2. The deleted scene allows players to maneuver Marcus and Dom through the Road to Ruins either the traditional Gears way of barging through with guns-a-blazin, or donning Theron armor for a sneakier approach.
If Map Packs are your thing, Call of Duty: World at War will be initiating another one in August. This will be their 3rd Map Pack and with it comes 3 new maps and 1 new Zombie map. “Battery,” “Revolution,” and “Breach”, co-developed with partner Certain Affinity, and the new Zombie map “Der Riese”. We’re super excited for Treyarch/Activisions latest COD:WaW Map Pack 2 that will be released today (6/11/09). The previous Map Pack 1 was perceived well, but our contributing writer jomocpa, thought those maps were too big. It will feature four new maps and a new zombie level named Shi no Numa. We’ve taken the pleasure of posting the trailer below because we know how hardcore you guys feel about FPS games and Call of Duty… right refugee?
Just when I thought I had escaped the addictive grips of Gears of War 2, it seems there’s going to be an entirely new reason for me to play hours a day. Epic Games announced today they will be releasing the Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection to retail outlets worldwide on July 28th.
The compilation will combine all previously released Gears of War 2 map packs (“Flashback”, “Combustible”, and the winter-themed “Snowblind” Map Packs), along with seven new mulitplayer maps and a deleted campaign chapter called “Road to Ruin” where you revisit the Locust Hollow as Marcus and Dom. The new campaign will allow players to approach it in two different ways: with guns a-blazin’ or stealthily. The Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection will also include a premium Xbox 360 theme, a strategy guide and a collectible poster for the low, low price of $19.99.
If you have all of the previous map packs, don’t you fret. The “Dark Corners” pack will include the seven new multiplayer maps and the deleted campaign chapter for 1,600 MS points. It will also be released on the Xbox Live Marketplace the day the retail version is.
Hot on the heels of Map Pack 1, comes this latest installment of Treyarch / Activision latest announcement of Map Pack 2 for Call of Duty: World at War. Call of Duty®: World at War Map Pack 2 will feature three multiplayer maps and one new Zombie map, and appear on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
“Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 underscores Treyarch’s commitment to delivering ongoing support, and new multiplayer and co-op Zombie gameplay experiences for our players,” said Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia. “Our community has been outstanding and has driven support for Map Pack 1, as well as demand for additional downloadable content like Map Pack 2.”
Online, players will compete in “Banzai,” and fight for control of a tall, river bridge, deep within enemy territory; face down foes in a shattered Russian train yard in “Corrosion”; and struggle to control a bombed-out submarine base in the close-quarter map, “Sub Pens.” In “Shi No Numa” (Zombie Swamp), Imperial Zombies rise from misty swamps in an all new co-op experience, with a level that features a mix of traps, flaming Hell Hounds, Perk machines and the deadly, new Wunderwaffe DG-2, as well as 10 new Xbox 360 Achievements/PS3 Trophies that can be earned along the way.

[UPDATE] On PlayStation site “The PlayStation Network is down”
For the second straight day, the PlayStation Network (PSN) is experiencing technical difficulties. Yesterday we received word, that the PS engineers were hard at work, but so far there have been no updates on the status.
The error has been tied to the Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack uploaded onto the PSN. Many user’s are reporting the incident happened shortly after the Map Pack and Call of Duty 1.04 Update were installed. We’ll keep you posted on any new developments on this post with updates.
