If you read PerezStart’s review for The House of the Dead: OVERKILL, you would know that we absolutely loved it.  You also would have learned that if the game had a mouth, it would have at least 3 bars of soap in it at the same time.

Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition announced SEGA’s latest version of The House of the Dead has broken the record for having the most swear words in a video game. Out of a three hour playthrough, a whopping 189 variations of the F word come spilling out of the game’s characters.  That’s an F word a minute, or 3% of all of the dialogue in the game!

Jonathan Burroughs, who is the writer for The House of the Dead: OVERKILL, had this to say upon hearing of the game receiving such a prestigious award,

It is a dubious honour to receive such an accolade working in an industry where so often the fruits of your labours are derided and dismissed for being puerile or irresponsible, but in the case of The House of the Dead: OVERKILL a little puerility was the order of business. Parodying the profane excess of grindhouse cinema was Headstrong Games’ objective and I am flattered that this record acknowledges that we not only rose to that challenge, but entirely exceeded it.

Ingredients for House of the Dead: Overkill = Planet Terror with some ‘Psycho’, add ¼ Total Recall and a generous amount Eddie Murphy’s Raw.

The characters of HOTD:Overkill, Agent G and Isaac Washington, are looking for Papa Caesar, the murderer of Washington’s father and the story continues from there.  The cutscenes are not the best of graphics (Wii at fault) but Headstrong games did the most they could and made it enjoyable.  House of the Dead: Overkill is one of the first REAL First Person Shooters thanks to the Wii-gun accessory.

The Overkill gameplay is fantastic and fun.  Shooting Zombies, err, Mutants is why the House of the Dead series is as successful as it is.  The game is loaded with F bombs and if your sensitive to cussing, this game would make your ears bleed.  Read more…
