
I must say I have been watching more than my fair share of the Winter Olympics this year. Overall, It has been a very exciting event to watch. I can’t help and think back to my first exposure to the winter games.
The year was 1984, I was 10 years old and I was on the Atari 130 XE. I remember spending many hours on Summer Games, a summer Olympic video game. The diving event was definitely my favorite.

This Week in Nintendo (TWIN) has one of the first RPG titles to grace the NES. That’s right, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy hits the VC this week for the great price of 500 points. When it came to RPG’s in the 80’s there were only two; Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy. Now you can complete 50% of the 80’s RPG titles with today’s announcemnet of Final Fantasy.

Looks as if the virtual download releases are picking up some steam after a dormant few weeks. I can’t say that I played the arcade version of Tecmo Bowl, but the Nintendo version logged many hours of fun in my book throughout the 80’s. The arcade version is what it is, a version to that one can enjoy right away. Instant gratification for your 25 cent investment. There aren’t any plays to call. There aren’t any individual distinctions between players. There aren’t even any other teams to choose from, beyond the default two — you’re either playing as the Wildcats or the Bulldogs, and that’s it.
